Today, Apple released iOS 8.4.1 to the public, which in turn patched the Untethered TaiG 8.4 Jailbreak. In light of that painful fact, I’ve opted to issue this new tutorial to aid those who either mistakenly updated to iOS 8.4.1 or received new devices running the latest firmware in the process of downgrading 8.4.1 to 8.4. Having said that, just note that this guide is time sensitive – i.e. once Apple ceases signing iOS 8.4, it will no longer be possible to downgrade to the firmware.
Again, to reiterate, this tutorial will assist you when downgrading iOS 8.4.1 to iOS 8.4 in order to then achieve an Untethered iOS 8.4 Jailbreak on the following devices: iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 4S, Apple’s A8X iPad Air 2, the iPad mini 3, original iPad Air, the Retina iPad mini 2, original iPad mini, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2 and the 5th and 6th generation iPod touch models.
iOS 8.4 Signing WindowBefore Downgrading, as mentioned above, once Apple stops signing iOS 8.4 (as of writing this article, they’re signing both iOS 8.4.1 and iOS 8.4), downgrades will no longer be possible and the only restorable firmware will be iOS 8.4.1.
As one final prelude, it’s strongly encouraged that you watch the above video in its entirety to ensure the success of your iOS 8.4.1 downgrade to 8.4.
How to Downgrade iOS 8.4.1 to iOS 8.4
Step 1. Verify that you’ve downloaded all of the necessary components for this tutorial, being your 8.4 IPSW and iTunes, from the download section found below.
Urgent Note: For this guide, you will be required to use the latest version of iTunes, whereas you may have to downgrade the program during the Jailbreak once downgraded (refer to my separate iOS 8.4 Jailbreak tutorial).
Step 2. Disable Find my iDevice inside of the iCloud portion of the Settings to ensure that you can properly restore and launch iTunes to confirm the tool properly recognizes your device.
Step 3. Based on your computer’s OS, you’ll either need to hold down the Shift or Alt (option) key on your keyboard on Windows or Mac OS X respectively. Left click “Restore”, point iTunes at your device’s corresponding 8.4 IPSW and confirm the restore.
Urgent Note 2: Currently, Apple is still signing iOS 8.4, once that changes, this note will be revised to reflect that.
Congratulations, after having adhered to three simple steps, you’ve successfully Downgraded your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to iOS 8.4 and you’re ready to Jailbreak (use this guide to do so)!

Remember, take advantage of this loophole while Apple is still signing iOS 8.4 to ensure that you can Jailbreak on iOS 8 before Apple replaces the firmware with iOS 9 later next month.
