Earlier tonight pod2g, the developer behind the recently demonstrated iOS 5 untethered Jailbreak, announced on Twitter that he’s successfully managed to get his Jailbreak working with the iPhone 4 on iOS 5.0.1!
In his tweet, embedded above, pod2g also said that updating to iOS 5.0.1 is now safe because they know for a fact that his Jailbreak will indeed work on a device with the latest public firmware. However if you have an iPhone and you intend to preserve your baseband (for unlocking purposes), do not update to iOS 5.0.1 via iTunes – you’ll have to wait until pod2g’s untethered exploit is implemented into a utility that can create custom IPSWs.
The only thing that’s left to do before creating a Jailbreak utility is to preform tests on other devices and add iPhone 4S and iPad 2 support.
Stay tuned for more updates on the status of pod2g’s untethered Jailbreak for iOS 5 and 5.0.1!
