This morning, almost three weeks following its initial beta release, Apple seeded iOS 9.2.1 beta 2 to registered developers enrolled in the company’s program. Currently, as with its predecessor, it remains unknown exactly which changes are introduced in iOS 9.2.1 beta 2.
iOS 9.2.1 Features And Changes
However, considering it’s a X.X.1 update, it can rightly be assumed that the new firmware simply improves stability and corrects bugs that could have been introduced by the former iOS 9.2 update, which corrected a number of issues (details available here).
As for availability, iOS 9.2.1 can be downloaded one of two ways – either through Apple’s developer portal as an IPSW or as an OTA update for those running the first beta iteration of the firmware.
Jailbreak iOS 9.2.1 Update
When it comes to Jailbreaking, iOS 9.2.1 will likely play an integral role in the release of a new utility. Developers (TaiG and Pangu are no exception) like to wait for new firmwares to be released before issuing new Jailbreak utilities to ensure maximum compatibility.
Assuming iOS 9.2.1 doesn’t prompt a similar scenario as iOS 9.1 beta did (it closed the primary exploit used in the iOS 9 Pangu Jailbreak before the group rushed it for an iOS 9.0.2-compatible release), it’s safe to say the chances of us seeing a new Jailbreak prior to its release are slim to none.
For more details on Jailbreaking and iOS 9.2+, I highly recommend both watching my above video in its entirety and navigating to Jailbreak Pangu’s latest ‘iOS 9.2.1 Jailbreak Update Archive‘.
