How To Jailbreak 8.1.1 – 8.1.2 Untethered Using TaiG – All iPhone, iPod And iPad Models

Today, in a completely unexpected and rather shocking release, a new Chinese-based dev team by the name of TaiG (yes, the same group that attempted to fund evasi0n7 by the evad3rs last year) released an out-of-the-blue Jailbreak 8.1.1 utility, dubbed TaiGJBreak. While I never thought I’d say this, TaiG’s new Jailbreak tool is actually rather redundant, as not only is 8.1.1 (the firmware that patches the previous Pangu iOS 8 through 8.1 Jailbreak) a minor release without any substantial changes, but Apple is still, as of writing this article, signing iOS 8.1 – meaning devices can still downgrade from 8.1.1 to 8.1. However, all things considered, this is an absolutely fantastic time for Jailbreakers and let’s proceed with the latest 8.1.1 Jailbreak tutorial!

For those of you who are either own iOS-based devices running 8.0 through 8.1 or own a Mac, follow my Untethered one-click Jailbreak 8.1 guide, which includes OS X support and appears to be more stable, as Pangu has had ample opportunity to update and perfect their Jailbreak.

This tutorial will walk you through the simple steps required to Jailbreak 8.1.1 using TaiG’s new TaiGJBreak utility for all iOS 8-based devices, including the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, Apple’s A8X iPad Air 2, the iPad mini 3, the original iPad Air, the Retina iPad Mini 2, iPad 4, iPad 3, the original iPad Mini, iPad 2 and the 5th generation iPod touch!

Important Pre-Jailbreak 8.1.1 – 8.1.2 Steps To Ensure A Successful Untethered Jailbreak!

If you updated to the current iteration of iOS 8 your device is currently running (whether it’s 8.1.1, 8.1.2 or 8.1) via the over-the-air or OTA update option that’s built into the Settings app – you must follow the prerequisite steps outlined below.

Furthermore, for those of you who wish to ensure the success of your iOS 8.1.2 or 8.1.1 Jailbreak, the following pre-Jailbreak procedure is highly recommended, as it’s the only method guaranteed to prevent potential issues.

1. Plug your iPhone, iPad or iPod into your computer via a standard USB cable, open iTunes and initiate a backup of your data.

2. Restore to a fresh build of iOS 8.1.2 by clicking the restore button, don’t restore from your backup yet, and follow the remainder of this tutorial to Jailbreak 8.1.1 completely Untethered.

3. Ensuing the completion of your device’s Jailbreak, restore from the backup that was created when following the first step.

Without further ado, after having taken into account the recommended process outlined above, which again is required if you updated through the Settings app, you can proceed with the iOS 8.1.1 Jailbreak 8.1.2 tutorial.

In addition to watching my above video to aid you in the steps required to Jailbreak, I strongly advise utilizing the following written steps to ensure a proper Jailbreak is executed, and delivered, successfully.

How To Jailbreak iOS 8.1.1 And 8.1.2 Via TaiG 1.2.0

My quick New guide for those of you running the latest public firmware: iOS 8.1.2.

Step 1. Verify that you’ve successfully downloaded all of the components required for the iOS 8.1.1- 8.1.2 Jailbreak in the download section below, connect your device to your Windows-based PC and launch iTunes.

Step 2. After iTunes recognizes your device, close the program and launch TaiGJBreak for iOS 8.1.1 and 8.1.2 – note, your may have to “Trust” the connection on your device before iTunes can properly connect to it.

Step 3. Enter AirPlane mode via Control Center on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch, uncheck the bottom box inside the TaiG interface (refer to my above video for a visual representation of this step) and click the green button to continue.

Step 4. Avoid interfacing with your device throughout the duration of the Jailbreak process – upon an automatic reboot, Cydia will be present among your list of icons on your iPod, iPhone or iPad’s springboard. Toggle off Airplane mode, open Cydia and let it reorganize the filesystem; upon completion, your device will instantly respring and your Jailbroken iDevice is now ready for full use!

Congratulations, after having completed four simple steps, and watching my above video tutorial, you will have successfully Jailbroken your iPad, iPod touch or iPhone running iOS 8.1.1 or 8.1.2!
